LIVING UNDER LAW

29th January 2012 by admin No Comments

Should a Christian hold the regulation of Moses from the Previous Covenant in addition to the regulation of Christ from the New Covenant? Is there an important distinction between those two laws? Are there on the similar time a couple of covenantal set of legal guidelines lively and binding on the believer at one time? Or is there just one body of law for each covenant?

The Previous Covenant regulation was only in authority when the Old Covenant was active. As soon as the New Covenant became lively and the Outdated Covenant faded throughout the first century, then the one law that is still is the New Covenant law. How then will we dwell underneath this New Covenant regulation?

What I imagine the scripture to teach is that the Previous Covenant law because it was in pressure within the OLD COVENANT has been abolished as a result of the covenant that it got here with has been abolished. Read the passage in Hebrews 7:12

“For the priesthood being modified, there may be made from necessity a change additionally of the law.”

Here God says that if the priesthood changed, then the law also must change. There is just one legislation at a time. The problem most people have is with the scripture that clearly and plainly teaches that the New Covenant law has replaced the Old Covenant law.

Romans 14 says that “By any means is NOT of FAITH IT IS SIN”. The New Covenant definition of sin, given by the apostle Paul underneath inspiration of the Spirit of God is that sin is defined by what is just not of FAITH. Sin just isn’t a violation of Mosaic Law. We must acknowledge the supremacy of Faith over regulation in the New Covenant.

I am not advocating sanctification by conserving the previous law. There isn’t a sanctification within the efficiency of any law. Except that efficiency is the proper performance of Christ and the credit score for that efficiency is imputed or accounted to our credit.

Let me cite you the words of Jesus from Matthew chapter 5 where he seems to be teaching that the moral precepts that he (Jesus) brought into the New Covenant are superior to what Moses left the nation of Israel in the Outdated Covenant.

Ye have heard that it was mentioned by them of previous time, (Moses) Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in peril of the judgment:

But I say unto you, That whosoever is indignant with his brother with no cause shall be at risk of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in peril of the council: however whosoever shall say, Thou idiot, shall be at risk of hell fire.

Ye have heard that it was mentioned by them of outdated time, (Moses) Thou shalt not commit adultery:
However I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a girl to lust after her hath committed adultery along with her already in his heart.

It hath been said, (by Moses) Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

However I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his spouse, saving for the reason for fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that’s divorced committeth adultery.

Once more, ye have heard that it hath been stated by them of previous time, (Moses) Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

However I say unto you, Swear under no circumstances; neither by heaven; for it’s God’s throne:

Ye have heard that it hath been mentioned, (by Moses) An eye for a watch, and a tooth for a tooth:

However I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy proper cheek, flip to him the opposite also.

And if any man will sue thee on the legislation, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go together with him twain.

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that may borrow of thee flip not thou away.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, (by Moses, do you see the pattern right here?) Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye often is the youngsters of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the great, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? don’t even the publicans the identical?

And if ye salute your brethren solely, what do ye greater than others? do not even the publicans so?

You could have heard it said by them of previous (MOSES)…BUT I SAY UNTO YOU. That is the language of super cession or of contradiction. Jesus is clearly saying that what Moses stated was fine…however I am giving you something BETTER…do not forget that in the new covenant we have now a BETTER high priest, a BETTER king, we even have a BETTER legislation giver, mediator, prophet. These are the roles that Moses fulfilled in the Old Covenant that Jesus is the achievement of the sort that Moses was intending. WE HAVE A GREATER THAN MOSES in Jesus Christ. The legislation that got here via the mediator of a BETTER covenant is a BETTER law established on BETTER promises. This concept is clearly taught in Hebrews, and right here within the Sermon on the Mount Matthew chapter 5 Jesus is illustrating the precept with no apology. Here is what Moses said…BUT I SAY UNTO YOU! Jesus changed the regulation from Mount Sinai and gave a higher legislation from The sermon on the MOUNT.

Some people declare that God’s ethical precepts have always been the identical earlier than the regulation, throughout the regulation and after the Regulation of Moses”. This is merely WRONG!!! I have simply proven the phrases of Christ which clearly and “Merely” present that the alternative is true.

Are Homicide and adultery still murder and adultery?

Absolutely!

But I don’t refrain from them because I’m below the Old Covenant Ten Commandments. The bible says that he who violated Moses legislation would die the death. The punishment underneath the previous covenant for homicide and adultery was being stoned to death. This doesn’t apply within the New Covenant. There is no command enjoined on the New Covenant church to STONE adulterers, murderers, Sabbath breakers etc. Whenever you remove the penalty of a legislation, that legislation is NO LONGER IN FORCE.

—So then why would I not murder?
—Why would I chorus from Adultery?

VERY GOOD QUESTIONS…I am glad you asked.

The reply could be very easy and Jesus gave it within the sermon on the mount, it is because I’ve a NEW HEART. The legislation of the Spirit of God, the law of liberty is written on my heart. If the Holy Spirit would lead and information an individual to commit adultery…then nicely and good…but such could be impossible. The Holy Spirit would never lead me to do such things, and since I am led by God’s Spirit, I would like no regulation to inform me “NO”. I am restrained by LOVE is what Paul teaches. “The love of Christ constrains me”.

If I do know of a brother within the Lord who’s committing adultery on his spouse, I will never pull out the Regulation of Moses and hit them over the pinnacle with it…since it has NO AUTHORITY. I’d merely in love go to my brother and ask him…”Brother is that this what God by way of his Spirit is convicting you is right to do?” They’ve two choices at that time, yield to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and repent, for all of God’s kids who have the Spirit shall be convicted by that very same Spirit. In the event that they say…”sure, this way of life of fornication is what I would like and I’m going to proceed in my adultery”. Then I’ve the authority of scripture to declare that this man is not in Christ, will not be a believer and has no inheritance within the kingdom of God. The bible could be very clear about this teaching. This is why we have the church self-discipline procedures outlined for us in Matthew 18 and Galatians 6, and Hebrews 12-13. Repentance is the evidence of salvation, rejection of biblical admonition is evidence of the truth that the Spirit of God is just not dwelling in him, and if he has not the Spirit of God, he is none of His.

Re-learn Matthew 7, I am not commanded not to murder, to not commit adultery…I’m commanded and led by the Spirit to NOT LOOK on a woman to lust. I am commanded to NOT HATE my brother. If I obey by the Spirit the admonition of Christ to NOT HATE MY BROTHER…will I ever kill him?

If I love my brother, ideas of homicide can by no means take maintain in me, and I will by no means commit murder…and I can obtain that without the mosaic commandment.

Same with adultery, if in my coronary heart, I chorus from lust, then with what motivation do I lay with different girl than my wife. It’s inconceivable that a legislation could higher restrain me than the Spirit dwelling in me convincing and convicting me.

Why would I ever go back to residing underneath a system (outward commands and legislation) that would never deliver me from sin, when I’ve the living God living in me to deliver me from all manner of sin and evil?

I pity any who suppose that by preserving commands that they are somehow pleasing God…they are NOT. I pity any who assume that they can overcome the world the flesh or sin in any of its types, by legislation retaining and duty. The New Testomony clearly teaches that this mind-set is ridiculous and futile. Please cite for me a passage of scripture that elevates regulation over the ministry of God’s Spirit and I’ll go back beneath law today. However you had BETTER give me a passage of scripture for me to make that decision. If not, you’ll not get me within 10 miles of a life led by law.

Do not worry about my freedom. No individual has the power to violate it. Paul in Galatians 5 tells me that I am to STAND within the liberty whereby Christ has made me free and not to be entangled again in the yoke of bondage. No one can take it from me nobody can violate it with out my consent. It’s my inheritance in Christ and I will maintain a great hold on it. It isn’t for anybody to take, however it is mine to surrender. However be assured I’m nowhere near the place where I might surrender it. Unless somebody can show me one thing better…which I am very suspicious that they cannot.

This doctrine of liberty is for all believers in the New Covenant. To start with it’s Christ’s doctrine taught by Him and His Apostles, I did not originate it. Secondly, I am not out to show it, I’m out to dwell it. I needn’t prove anything to anyone. However God by His Spirit has known as me to dwell this lifetime of freedom.

However I so really feel compelled to supply it to those that are still in bondage to the Old Covenant way of life, and to these whom I offer it, I do not search to prove it to them either. For if the Spirit of God does not give them a taste for freedom and a need to be free from bondage, then I’m not going to try to overpower God’s Spirit. But if they honestly have the Spirit of God, they will yearn for this freedom and wild horses won’t hold them from it.

So I supply it, and many eat…and but many scoff. I’m not liable for the scoffers, nor do I take credit for those who partake and are liberated…but I do get to stroll with those that are liberated as true brothers.

I imagine that we ought to reason from the scripture. If there’s a scriptural precept I am lacking, help me out, point it out.

But if I have been to have it my means, (the way in which of my flesh) I’d still be the place I used to be 15 years in the past, underneath bondage to the Previous Covenant with solely a trail of destroyed relationships and a futile life behind me. Having it my way…I hope not…I hope to have it God’s method as His Holy Spirit leads and guides. For there is really NO OTHER WAY.
